SMEULDERS INTERIOR GROUP SCORES THE MAXIMUM NUMBER OF POINTS ON THE R-LADDER WITH #GREENGRIDZ AT THE HELMOND CITY HALL

With the opening of the Huis voor de Stad, the municipality of Helmond has reduced the number of work locations for civil servants from four to one. The decision to move from four buildings to one has had a huge impact! By focusing on the R-ladder, they have been able to drastically reduce their use of raw materials.

Smeulders Interieurgroep of Nuenen was selected as the top bidder in the European restricted bidding process for Lot 1 and produced the custom-made furniture for the Huis voor de Stad.

One of the materials that scored the highest on the top R step—refuse, rethink, reduce—is the innovative, circular, lightweight furniture panel #greengridz. And that’s where Smeulders created spectacular custom furniture in collaboration with TRIBOO and Van Styn Rijnwoude. Veneered oak cabinet walls and tables, as far as the eye can see. Made with 60–90% less material, a 60% lower carbon footprint, and 100% circular.

Watch the video and get inspired by the possibilities of building strong, lightweight furniture with #greengridz—using less material, emitting less CO2, and generating less waste.
