It doesn’t have to be that way. The furniture industry produces millions of metric tons of waste every year. Traditional seating furniture is made from a mix of materials. It’s glued, stapled, and laminated together, making it virtually impossible to disassemble, repair, or recycle. When a sofa is worn out, it ends up in the incinerator. So do the raw materials inside. As a result, enormous quantities of high-quality material are lost: PU foam and latex from old sofas, seating elements, and mattresses; EPS foam from electronics packaging and discarded refrigerators. These are materials with real structural and functional value—simply because no one has found a way to reuse them.

Waste rediscovered as a raw material for high-quality seating furniture.

The circular design principles of the Puzzl soft seating collection are based on two mutually reinforcing developments. On the one hand, material innovation that responds to what the world discards. Old PU foam and latex from dismantled seating furniture, as well as EPS from electronics packaging and old refrigerators, are recycled and reprocessed into high-quality structural and comfort materials. Without compromise. Materials that meet the requirements for commercial project furniture and are made almost exclusively from recovered waste streams. On the other hand, the design ensures that it will never become waste again. Every component of the Puzzl has a modular design and is constructed so that it can be disassembled quickly and easily. No glue, staples, or mixed materials. Just four clean, single-material components that are easy to separate, ensuring that the value invested at the outset is preserved until the very end.

From waste stream to construction material.

CircleFoam’s technology processes post-consumer and post-industrial EPS into industrial CircleFoam blocks. This rigid, lightweight construction material serves as the base material for the frame of the Puzzl seating elements. Recycled PU foam and latex are processed into CircleFoam Comfort. A high-quality foam that guarantees comfortable seating. These discarded raw materials, which would otherwise have ended up in the trash, are reused and perform perfectly in high-traffic environments.

Modularly constructed as an endless source of material for seating furniture.

The Puzzl has a modular design and is constructed from four single materials: CF-rEPS frame, CF-Comfort foam, Greengridz®, and fabric. The upholstery is applied without glue or staples, and every connection is reversible. The seating elements can be easily disassembled without tools, glue, or specialized knowledge. As a result, at the end of its lifespan, each mono-material can be high-quality recycled and serve as raw material for the next Puzzl.
