Not long ago, during a conversation with Teun Naber, Business Development Manager at Iron Mountain, Remko Klomps, Supply Chain Manager at Achmea, learned about the possibility of turning waste streams from waste paper into circular office furniture. Driven by their sustainability goals, they wanted to explore these possibilities and ended up discovering TRIBOO. Marc van der Heijden, founder and owner of TRIBOO, described his vision of a world where raw materials and furniture no longer have to be discarded, but can change in form and function according to the customer’s wishes. It began with translating the ideas into a digital design for the table. Two basic elements—the frame and the tabletop—were incorporated into the circular process. The result was a sleek parametric design for the table’s base, 3D-printed using old archival paper. And an innovative, lightweight #greengridz tabletop measuring 3000x1000x30mm with beautifully rounded corners, where the top and upper layer of the tabletop were made using Achmea’s own archival material. Of course, the material used for the table no longer contained any confidential data.

A total of 100 kilograms of old archival material was collected and delivered to TRIBOO. The table was delivered on Thursday, September 25, 2025. The entire department was present for the table’s installation. This is not only a fantastic story about what can be achieved when people work together, but also a practical example of how to realize a circular economy and a zero-waste society.

If we take responsibility together, raw materials no longer have to go to waste and end up in landfills or incinerators. That material can be used to create eye-catching furniture and sustainable interior design elements!
