RAW Chair

The RAW chair demonstrates how waste can be transformed into a valuable circular product. The chair is made from natural cellulose fibers derived from wood waste streams. Thanks to its visible fiber structure, each chair has a natural, distinctive look that immediately conveys the story of the raw materials used.

RAW Chair

A circular chair with a "natural identity"

The RAW chair combines a striking design with a unique material story. Waste fibers are compressed under pressure and heat to form a sturdy seat shell, thereby reusing valuable raw materials. The result is a comfortable chair that brings the circular economy to life in interior design.

What makes the %RAW chair special?%

The strength of the RAW chair lies in its material. The chair is made from natural fibers recovered from wood waste streams. Instead of letting these raw materials go to waste, they are processed into a new and usable material. The cellulose fibers remain visible on the chair’s surface. This gives the RAW chair a warm and natural look and makes it immediately clear what the product is made of. No hidden waste stream—just a material story that becomes part of the design.

From worthless trash to a %valuable chair%

With every RAW chair, approximately 5.5 kilograms of waste is given a new purpose. As a result, fewer new raw materials need to be extracted from the earth for production. By using multiple chairs, the savings become immediately tangible: six chairs together represent approximately 33 kilograms of reused material. The RAW chair thus brings the circular economy to life in conference, reception, and meeting spaces. The chair is not only a functional piece of furniture but also a recognizable example of how existing raw materials can be used in a different way.

Pressed under %high pressure and heat%

To manufacture the chair, natural fibers are molded using a pressing technique that applies high pressure and heat. This creates a sturdy, dimensionally stable seat shell in which the original fiber structure remains visible. This manufacturing technique makes it possible to transform waste fibers into a new piece of furniture with its own unique look. The result is a chair that is lightweight yet suitable for daily use in professional settings.

What started with viewing a 3D printed tulip vase and then driven by commitment and enthusiasm, many more circular solutions turned out to be possible, which were eventually realized in the building. TRIBOO gave "working together on housing" a much broader dimension and a story to go with it.

Pieter and Peter find it very interesting and fun to work with TRIBOO. They deliver products that are completely in line with our circular objectives. They take us along in the development and knowledge of materials, binding techniques and modular constructions made on Dutch soil. They simply show us what it is made of and that appeals. They also help us tell "the circular story".

Massaro: 'We chose this furniture because it is made of worthless waste that would otherwise have made a negative impact on our planet. Now the waste has become cool and fun furniture. All those thousands of employees and visitors who will be using the rooms will see the story, read it, and may be inspired to do the same'.
